Intro to The Early Life of David
(2010 Summer Sermon Series based in 1 Samuel)
Over the years, David has been one of the Biblical characters that has always intrigued me...and it's not simply because we share a first name. I guess it's because he has (and does) everything. Scholars say he was a political genius, a military genius, and a musical genius. He was also a prolific sinner.
Although I don't seem to be a genius in anything, I have this nasty tendency to be a sinner. Can anyone relate?
I've always figured if David could sin so atrociously and still be considered a "man after God's own heart," there has to be some hope for me. So, I've always enjoyed doing sermons and Bible studies about David.
One of the first Bible studies I ever led (back before I had gray hair and grandchildren), was a beginning to end study of David's life. This summer, I've begun a sermon series on his early life, exploits, and foibles. I'm already having a great time with it, and I hope you'll find a little joy and inspiration in the sermons that make it to this website.
