What I Didn't Say
Biblical Truth--One of the things that has always amazed and disturbed me is the propensity of many Christians to explain away the events recorded in Scripture. I've seen it in places like seminary, Sunday School, and on the street. I'm glad, for my own edification, that I saw and experienced it in seminary. After a year or two of that, I finally realized I had better know why I believed what I believed. If I didn't, I would lose the entire foundation for the way I lived my life.
That would be fine if the gospel was untrue. I'd have to find or build another foundation. But the gospel is true and leaving that foundation would be disastrous. So I began to solidify my understanding of why I believed what I believed.
So when I read the events recorded in Scripture, I believe they are true. It's not a blind faith. There are reasons to believe the Bible. I don't have to experience everything first hand to understand the reality of it. I have, however, experienced Jesus first hand. That's enough for me.
