What I Didn't Say
Victory--When I was a young Christian, I used to hear a lot of the older folks talk about "living a victorious Christian life." I never quite figured out what they meant. It seemed like they meant living a life without sin. If that's what they actually meant, I'm sure they never met anyone that was living that victorious life.
The fact is, once we've met Jesus, we have become victorious. In Jesus, we have the victory...meaning, He's the winner. If we're on His team, we win! So once we place our faith in Jesus for our salvation, we've won.
The real meaning behind the old phrase about living that victorious life seems to really be success. In other words, we can be more successful at following Jesus than we are. We can walk closer and closer to His ways. The more we do that, the more successful we will be in our Christian walk and the more fruit we will produce for the Kingdom of God.
