What I Didn't Say

Housed
--Recently I've heard a lot of sports announcers use the term "housed."  They say things like, "The Seahawks got housed."  They change the term from a noun to a verb.  I've never heard anyone define the new usage, but from the sounds of things it means crushed, massacred, or wiped out.  I'm not sure, but it might also have the extra facet that it happens to the home team.  Don't quote me on that one.

I checked it out in the Urban Dictionary and it says this:
Completely destroyed. Beaten down like the "the man" beats
people down. Beaten with assistance of overwhelming odds.
As in, I just beat you so bad, I took everything including down
to your house. Think repo man.

Jesus seemed to feel that the Jews were getting housed in their faith.  They were placing the house (temple) above service to the Lord.  He overturned tables to get their attention.  He wanted them to get back in the game.  He wanted them to get beyond the trappings and put their faith where it could do some good.

We, as Christians, do the very same thing.  Our trappings get in the way.  The church building, our traditions, even the cross itself become more important than Jesus Himself.  In so doing, we are getting housed.
