PULPITMAN.COM   "My whole intent in living here is to make God smile."  (Gianna Jessen)

My name is Dave Zuchelli. I am a preacher, plain and simple (mostly simple).  I love to preach.  In fact, preaching is my passion.  I seldom turn down the opportunity to expound upon the Word of God.  I believe the Bible is that Word and that it should be shared and spread.

Some people have described me as "quite a character."  I suppose that's true (whether a forgettable one or an unforgettable one, I'll leave to your discretion).  Lots worse has been said about me (and I suppose most of that is true as well).

Over the years, I have been known by many nicknames ..."Zuch" and "Zuchie" in high school (ch pronounced like k) ..."Zoo" in college..."Zeke" and "Brother Zeke" in seminary...and just plain "Z" to many.  My bride, Denise, calls me "Davey" because, while growing up, that's what I wanted to be called.  I think Davey Crockett had a lot to do with that.  My Mother would never allow it, however, and often called me David Joseph (mostly when she was angry with me--which seemed to happen a lot).

The vanity plates on my Harley say "Z REV" although that's because someone else in Virginia already had "REV Z." I hate that guy!  If you ever run into him, don't tell him I said so.

But I think the one nickname I've always appreciated the most is "Preacher."  It not only sums up my passion and beliefs, but it quite succinctly defines who I am.  It is not a very distinguishing nickname.  A lot of us preacher types get called that.  And that's okay.  We are a dime a dozen.  But, as far as I'm concerned, the more there are of us, the better off the world will be.

It's not that we're such great people, because we aren't.  In fact, I often say that many of us hear the call to preach precisely because we know how despicable we really are. We have an understanding of the deep seated need for God's amazing grace.  And we realize that there are a lot of others out there who need it too.  So we answer the call in the realization that the Lord used and uses slime balls like us all the time.

I am not represented by any management group, agency, or answering service. You can contact me at (240) 606-4952 or smithchapel@live.com.  That's not to say I'll answer, but I've been known to respond from time to time.

I produce no music CD's, DVD's or books (although I know three or four chords on guitar).  I do, however, listen to and read some of them (just in case you're wondering).  So this website is merely another vehicle to get the Word out into cyberspace and maybe  to provide a platform for some thoughts that don't find their way into my sermons.  In other words, it's a place for me to let off some steam.

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention.  You can hear me LIVE most Sundays at a cool church named Smith Chapel UMC in Great Falls, VA.  The people there are wonderful and will welcome you with open arms.  That would be overtly apparent when you consider they come and listen to someone who looks like me every Sunday.
