Overnight Success 1 Samuel 17:55-18:5

Part Two
What I Didn't Say
Success--One observation I have made about my own life is this. Quite often, I look at something I've done or accomplished as a success. Then, after time passes, I look back and wonder if it really was a success after all. I begin to doubt whether it really counted for anything.
I'm not sure if that's a lack of self esteem, but very often I turn a success in my life into a failure in my mind. I have to remind myself that success in my life is not mine but God's. God fights for me, trains me, and uses me. As the old Petra songs says, "The battle belongs to the Lord." Therefore, the success belongs to the Lord as well.
Don't get too down on yourself. If you are striving to follow the Lord, He will see to it that you are successful. It might not be success in the way you would measure it, but it will be God's success the way He measures it. You might never realize it until you're with the Father in Heaven and He points out what He has accomplished IN you and THROUGH you.
In the meantime, keep on keepin' on.
The Book of Eli--I use this movie as an illustration during this sermon. In doing so, I revealed the ending to the story. So, if you're thinking about renting it, you might want to watch it before you listen to this sermon. Just a word to the wise.
