Baseball--When I don't have any good illustrations for my sermons, I often fall back on baseball.  Baseball is one of the loves of my life.  It seems to me that any passage in the Bible can be illustrated and fleshed out in baseball terms and baseball stories.  

I try not to do that very often.  It's just too easy to fall back on, and I'm sure the people listening would get quite sick of it.  But every once in awhile, those baseball references seem quite appropriate.  

In this sermon, I use two of them to wrap up what I consider to be the cogent points of this passage.  I went back and listened to the recording and found it to be somewhat intriguing (even though I knew the stories and how they were going to end).  I just love a good baseball story.

There's something romantic and magnetic to me about baseball. I don't know how many times I have watched "Field of Dreams."  I own a copy of "The Natural."  It's a simple game, but baseball seems to capture all the elements of life.  And if you look hard enough, you'll see elements of the supernatural there as well.
