What I didn't Say

King
--Common theological wisdom is that Jesus is "Prophet, Priest, and King."  I kind of like the phrase "Good King Jesus."  Unfortunately, I think that sort of trivializes Him.  On the other hand, any name we call Him fails to capture who and what He is.

I remember back in the 1980's, Barry McGuire did a song called, "Cosmic Cowboy."  It was one of those long narrative songs like "Big Bad John" and "The Epic Ride of John H. Glenn" (anyone old enough to remember those?).  Some people got their panties all in a wad over it saying that Jesus was NOT a cosmic cowboy.  Barry made the simple yet powerful retort that Jesus is not a lamb, nor is He a lily out growing in a valley, nor is He a big rock.  The obvious point is that nothing we call Him is going to capture who He is...ever.  King is no different.
